It should also be noted that the dressing room should be booked if you want to do makeup on-site or change outfits throughout the shoot. The Laranja dressing room can be booked by contacting Hortus Botanicus directly.

Keukenhof Tulip Gardens

There's something about a backdrop of blooming tulips that just screams fun! Maybe it's the bold colors or the playful shape of the flowers, but tulips always seem to put a smile on people’s faces. Of course, that makes them perfect for photos!

With over seven million bulbs planted yearly, Keukenhof Tulip Gardens are a veritable sea of color, with tulips in every hue imaginable. Think beautiful photographs of couples strolling hand-in-hand through the flowers, playful images of children running around the gardens, or loving gazes captured in front of an explosion of flamboyant blooms!

Factors to consider

Due to the nature of the environment, the Keukenhof Tulip Gardens only operates while the tulips are in bloom (usually from late March to early May). So if you are planning to visit, check their site for up-to-date information regarding opening dates. Pricing: € 19.00 per adult. € 9 per child.

Giethoorn is a small Dutch village with a big reputation. This charming canalside community has been aptly dubbed a "fairytale village" due to its picture-perfect setting and peaceful atmosphere. Boasting chocolate box-style thatched houses, glistening waterways, and bright flora, Giethoorn is the perfect place to capture unforgettable photos of any description.

Factors to consider

Giethoorn is located approximately 2 hours outside of Amsterdam, so it may be worthwhile booking a day trip (Day Trip) €108 per person (approx).

If you are planning on driving to Gierthoorn, be prepared to park your car before you enter the village. This beautiful location can only be accessed by boat, bike, or on foot!

Castle Rosendael

Nestled among lush gardens and rolling hills, Castle Rosendael provides a range of luxurious-looking backdrops. Whether posing for photos in front of the imposing mosaic-style water fountain or strolling through the manicured grounds, the castle's dramatic setting is the perfect spot for a more intimate shoot.

If you want to take some genuinely iconic Amsterdam shots, then Jordaan is the place for you. This charming neighborhood is crammed full of narrow streets, canals, and quaint houses, making it the perfect backdrop for any photo. The sunlight reflecting off the canals' water creates a beautiful glow that will make your photos look absolutely stunning while intriguing alleyways provide the perfect spot for dramatic shoots. And with such a lively and exciting ambiance surrounding the neighborhood, there is always something interesting happening, making it an excellent option for candid pictures.

Factors to consider

Jordaan is a large area, so if heels are on the cards for the outfit plan, a spare, comfier pair of shoes may come in handy when walking the cobbled streets between shooting locations!

Jordaan is a trendy tourist spot, so don't be surprised if you come across large crowds of people enjoying the area! If you are looking for a location in Jordaan that is a little quieter, consider heading to Brewer's canal on the north side of the neighborhood.

Amsterdam Oersoep

Although upon first glance at a map, the Amsterdam Oersoep may look like a simple and unassuming shopping center, it's actually hiding a big (and beautiful) secret! When you step foot into the entryway of this seemingly ordinary mall, you'll be transported to an art-deco-esque hallway of mosaic color. Large chandeliers create a bright environment accentuating each tile's eye-catching sheen while highlighting the bold emerald green & gold murals adorning the walls, windows, floors, and ceilings! The awe-inspiring artistry of this location is sure to turn heads when the photographs are displayed.

Factors to consider

Amsterdam Oersoep is a beautiful and unique area, providing an excellent backdrop for exceptional photography. However, it is imperative to remember that this is also the entryway to a commercial shopping mall. Neon store signs can be avoided easily enough with careful camera placement, but dodging passersby might be more complex! So if you want to lessen the risk of photo-bombers, take advantage of an early morning or late evening shoot.

Zaanse Schans

Zaanse Schans is a photographer's dream. The small village, with its traditional Dutch windmills and picturesque canals, provides the perfect environment for a photo shoot. With their sails slowly turning in the breeze, the windmills make for a striking foreground, while the canals and quaint houses add a touch of charm. The light is also perfect for photography, with the sun filtering through the trees and glinting off the water! A trip to Zaanse Schans will have you returning with beautiful photographs every time!

Factors to consider

Zaanse Schans is located approximately 30 minutes from the center of Amsterdam. If you don't have access to a car, you'll need to either travel by train or book a tour. €30 per person (approx).
